5 Things Every Tradie Website Needs (That Most Get Wrong)
Your website is your best after-hours salesperson. Here's what it needs to actually win you jobs.
Most tradie websites are an afterthought — a page thrown together years ago that nobody updates. But your website is working (or not working) for you 24/7. Here's what makes the difference.
1. A phone number that's impossible to miss
Put your phone number in the top-right corner of every page, large enough to read at a glance. On mobile, it should be a tap-to-call link. Sounds obvious — but the majority of tradie sites bury the number in a contact form nobody fills out.
2. Your service areas, listed clearly
"Serving Sydney" means nothing. List the suburbs and regions you actually work in. This is critical for local SEO — Google needs to see suburb names to rank you for searches like "plumber Parramatta" or "electrician Hills District".
3. Trust signals above the fold
Before a customer calls you, they want to know you're legit. Put these front and centre:
- Your licence number
- Insurance status
- Years of experience
- Review count and star rating (even just "200+ 5-star Google reviews")
4. A simple, fast booking form
Don't make people call to enquire. A short form — name, phone, job type, brief description — means you capture leads even when you're on the tools. Keep it to 5 fields or fewer.
5. Real photos of your work
Stock photos of tools are a red flag. Customers want to see your actual work — before and afters, completed jobs, your van, your team. Even phone photos are better than nothing.
Bonus: Mobile speed
Over 70% of tradie website visitors are on a phone. If your site takes more than 3 seconds to load, most of them will leave. Make sure your site is fast, compressed, and built for mobile first.
A website that has all five of these things will outperform 90% of your local competition.
